CPD - Stay sharp with Wakiti

Reminder to all FSP’s to verify CPD providers

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) has recently issued an important notice to Financial Services Providers (FSP’s), warning against the use of unauthorised CPD providers.

Failure to verify CPD providers and programmes may result in financial institutions not meeting their CPD requirements as outlined in Board Notice 194 of 2017.

What FSP’s should do

The FSCA encourages financial institutions to:

  • Verify the accreditation status of the CPD provider through the relevant professional body

  • Confirm whether reference numbers are valid and associated with approved courses

Why This Matters

FSP’s who rely on unauthorised CPD providers risk failing to meet their ongoing competency requirements under the FAIS Act. This can have significant regulatory consequences, including penalties and reputational damage.
